Welcome to the website of Bedlam, a journal of horror and the macabre.

Where the fan’s passion for horror meets the scholar’s zeal for intellectual investigation, there is Bedlam, a print and digital journal devoted to exploring the horror genre from every age and in every form — from ancient to modern, from film and theatre to art, music and literature.

Why Bedlam?

“When I think of Bedlam, I think of horror,” says Editor in Chief Robert J.E. Simpson, “a dark place, full of shadows and screams, and a strange sort of chaos.”

Who is Bedlam?

Bedlam is edited by Robert J.E. Simpson and David L. Rattigan, and published by the UK-based Avalard Publishing, “a local small press with a global outlook.”

When is Bedlam published?

Issue no. 1 of Bedlam will be available in digital and print format in early 2013 (TBC), but online articles will be appearing regularly on from September 2012.
